Baronial Officers & Representatives

The officers of the Barony of the Sacred Stone serve the populace by coordinating baronial activities, managing financial affairs, overseeing martial and artistic endeavors, and assisting newcomers. Together with Their Excellencies, the officers form the Baronial Council to guide the administrative operations of our lands.

Baronial Business Meetings are held monthly to discuss upcoming events, review officer reports, and address baronial business. All members of the populace are welcome and encouraged to attend.

  • Officer Reports: Monthly reports are due to the Seneschal and Their Excellencies prior to the scheduled business meeting.

Great Officers of State

Seneschal

The Seneschal is the chief administrative officer of the Barony, which includes coordinating the other baronial officers as required for the smooth operation of the barony and for its relations with outside agencies. The Seneschal presides over baronial business meetings and is responsible for understanding and, when necessary, interpreting baronial, kingdom, and society laws and ensuring that they are followed.

Exchequer

The Chancellor of the Exchequer is responsible for maintaining the financial records of the barony, supervising the finances of the barony, and assembling financial reports and submitting them to the Kingdom Chancellor of the Exchequer in a timely fashion.

Quartermaster

Acting as a deputy of the exchequer, The quartermaster is responsible for storing, maintaining, and making available all equipment, gear, and other items owned by the barony. It is the quartermaster’s responsibility to make this property available for general use as deemed appropriate by the baronial officers and policies and that all such property that is checked out is returned in a reasonable amount of time.

Minister of Arts & Sciences

The Minister of Arts and Sciences is responsible for supporting study into art forms, technologies, and those aspects of culture relating to their use, both in period and in baronial activities.

Webminister

The web minister is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the barony’s Internet resources, such as email aliases and web site, and ensuring that the baronial web site is in compliance with current SCA and Atlantian policies. Additionally, the web minister serves as an advisor to the barony in matters concerning the Internet.

Chronicler

The chronicler is responsible for supervising the official publishing activities within the barony, taking the minutes of baronial business meetings, and editing and publishing the baronial newsletter, Edicts & Epistles.

Herald

The Baronial Herald is responsible for advising Their Excellencies on matters of court business, supervising court heraldry at events, and coordinating the research and submission of names and armory.

Knights’ Marshal

The knight’s marshal is the baronial officer in charge of coordinating that society and kingdom laws regarding martial activities are being followed within the barony. This includes appropriate marshal presence at official events, practices, and demos. Target Archery Marshal

Oversees target archery activities, safety protocols, and range operations across the Barony. The Target Archery Marshal ensures all equipment meets Society safety standards, inspects shooting lines and ranges, coordinates practice sessions and event tournaments, and assists archers of all skill levels in safely developing their technique.

Minister of the List

The Minister of the Lists maintains accurate records of the fighting activities and authorizations at baronial events.

Youth Officer

Oversees youth activities, educational programs, and family-friendly engagement across the Barony. The Minister of Youth coordinates age-appropriate activities at events, supports youth combat and craft programs in accordance with Kingdom background check and safety standards, and assists families in navigating youth participation within the Society.

Baronial Appointments

Clerk Signet

Coordinates scribal arts and the production of award scrolls across the Barony. The Clerk Signet manages assignments for local calligraphers and illuminators, maintains inventory of scribal supplies, and liaises with the Kingdom Signet to ensure timely, high-quality scrolls are prepared and delivered for local and royal courts.

Largesse Coordinator

Manages the collection, inventory, and distribution of handcrafted gift items given on behalf of the Barony. The Largesse Coordinator organizes donation drives, tracks contributed crafts, and prepares gift packages for Royalty and visiting nobility to showcase the artisan talent of our local populace.

Head Retainer

Coordinates personal support and logistical assistance for the Baronage during official appearances and events. The Head Retainer manages the schedule of retainers and guards, ensures their Excellencies have necessary supplies and support throughout the day, and serves as the primary point of contact for court logistics.
